Britain Plans To Revitalize Scotland'S Traditional Wool Factory.

A group of old but charming buildings located in Morayshire hides the last and most complete relic of the history of Scotland's textile industry, which has been producing fabrics since 1784.

Today, the heritage lottery award fund will revive the Knockando wool factory in Spey village.

Factories and factory buildings are at risk of collapse at any time.

The visiting group can no longer visit here.

The life of the original machine has exceeded hundreds of years, and now it is badly in need of repair.

The weaver Hugh Jones now uses the technology handed down from generation to generation. He has kept the tradition of the tradition of the oldest wool factory in the UK, but he is very anxious to pass on his own knowledge and technology to the young people.

This project regards Knockando as a factory that can continue to run. It is a tourist sanctuary, as well as a traditional craft training center. Therefore, the heritage lottery award fund gives it a green light.

Jana Hutt, chairman of the Knockando wool factory trust, said our philosophy is to restore the site as much as possible and minimize changes.

We want to maintain its unique feeling, appearance, voice and smell of a small wool factory.

We want to share the excitement that people see when cloth grows longer. Looms here are producing cloth and weaving a history.

Now the public can hardly access the ruins, and the wool factory will continue to produce.

The houses in the wool factory will serve as staff and facilities for training staff.

The old workshop will be on display, and the malls will be converted into the visiting center, cafe and educational area of the exhibition area.

The water wheel and spoon will be repaired and the cloth rack will be retained.

They will also set up a training workshop to repair machines and provide traditional technical training.

In the future, through this project, Knockando will become a historic visitor shrine and a commercial wool production center.

In addition, the heritage lottery award fund provides teachers with 5 years of funding.

Their task is to ensure that every visitor understands the tradition of Knockando.

At the same time, local schools also offer educational courses related to the textile industrial heritage.
