Those working in the textile industry of Swaziland will pay 3% of their income tax according to their wages.

Previously, employees in the textile and clothing sector were exempt from income tax because of low wages.

According to the new tax reform announced by the finance minister, George George, this year, textile workers need to pay income tax even if wages do not grow.

They need to pay taxes from July of this year, said Secretary of the Swaziland manufacturing and trade union alliance.

Manana once again said that workers are not satisfied with the new tax reform because their wages are still quite low.

Most workers earn 965 li of langi a month, which is the two level of industrial wage.

Manana put forward a strong objection to taxation. If taxes on textile workers were taxed, they would be separated from the poor wages they had.

Other low income industrial sectors, including agriculture, production, retail, wholesale, hotels, pportation, security, basic labor and hospitals, will pay 3% of the minimum income tax.
