The organization alliance and SEIU, a service industry union, called on the Obama administration to resume the textile content in the free trade negotiations with South Korea to avoid large-scale layoffs in the US industry.

The National Textile Organization Committee (NCTO) and other group organizations pointed out that some serious mistakes were made in 2007 when negotiations were hurriedly ended, which would damage the textile manufacturers in the United States and lead to a large number of job losses in the United States.

Insiders pointed out that there are fatal defects in textile documents.

Bill Jasper, chief executive of the company, pointed out that if the South Korean free trade agreement was adopted according to the current content, his company would be hurt.

Today, Unifi and many other textile companies are hiring workers to expand our investment in factories and equipment in the United States, he said.

However, due to the current agreement, the textile content of the South Korea free trade agreement is basically tilted towards the Korean industry, which will hurt the textile companies in the United States.

As a result, they urged the Obama administration to correct these mistakes and safeguard American job opportunities.

Jasper

It points out that there are three fatal errors in the textile content part: 1) the sensitive textiles produced by large and competitive Korean manufacturing enterprises are given the right to enter the United States immediately and sometimes asymmetrically; 2) the customs enforcement documents are weak, which will encourage large-scale fraud; 3) some important products in China and other countries benefit from the rules of origin.

Jasper urged the government to resume negotiations to explain: "let the sensitive sectors of the textile industry face the risk of immediate tariff reduction, which means a rapid reduction in US employment opportunities and closure of us factories."
