Uneven Development Of China'S Nylon Industry Is Becoming A Soft Rib.

Nylon Industry

For a long time, our country

Nylon industry

The development of nylon raw materials, especially caprolactam, has lagged behind the polymerization and spinning seriously, which has become a bottleneck for the development of China's Nylon industry.

Although the production of caprolactam in China has been greatly expanded in recent years, the output has been greatly improved, but it still can not change the situation of serious shortage in China.

Demand exceeds supply

Industry development bottleneck

Tang Jun, Secretary General of nylon fiber Specialized Committee of China Chemical Fiber Association, told the author that from 1985 to 2009, the amount of caprolactam imported from China increased from 45 thousand tons to 601 thousand and 300 tons, an increase of 13 times, of which the dependence on imports reached 64.64% in 2009.

Such high import dependence limits the healthy and sustainable development of the industry as a whole.

According to Deng Jun, caprolactam in China is mainly used to produce nylon 6 fiber and nylon 6 engineering plastics.

According to the development plan of China's Nylon industry, the demand for nylon 6 fiber in 2005~2010 is expected to increase at an annual average rate of 7%. On this basis, the total demand for caprolactam will exceed 1 million 100 thousand tons by 2010.

And relative to the huge.

Domestic demand

The amount of domestic caprolactam is not enough.

By the end of 2009, there were only 4 caprolactam manufacturers in China, namely, Nanjing DSM Chemical Co., Ltd., Sinopec Baling Petrochemical Company, Sinopec Shijiazhuang Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Juhua Group Company. The total production capacity of these four plants was 425 thousand tons / year, compared with about 1000000 tons of Caprolactam demand, there was obviously a big gap, so they need to import large quantities from abroad.

At present, the production of caprolactam in the world is mainly concentrated on several large enterprises.

Among them, BASF is the largest caprolactam manufacturer in the world, with a production capacity of 1 million 15 thousand tons / year, followed by DSM and Honey Well Company, and its production capacity is 615 thousand tons / year and 364 thousand tons / year respectively.

Caprolactam in China is also mainly purchased from these three enterprises.

In addition to the contradiction between supply and demand, the market price of caprolactam has also been rising, driven by the high price of international crude oil, which is more or less pressure on nylon enterprises.

In order to solve the problem of excessive dependence on imports of raw materials, many people in the industry have appealed to increase the production of caprolactam. However, due to large capital investment and complicated technological and technological barriers, some enterprises are restricted by relevant mechanisms and regulations, monopolized by some enterprises and monopolized by related technologies, resulting in domestic production capacity can not be improved, and the quality of products can not fully meet the requirements of downstream nylon enterprises.

The introduction of technology and independent innovation is the way out

In view of the objective problems existing in the nylon industry, the Secretary General of Deng Jun put forward some suggestions for the development of caprolactam industry.

First, the capacity of the new or expanded caprolactam project must exceed 100 thousand tons / year, generally 150 thousand ~20 tons per year.

In the guidance catalogue for industrial structure adjustment formulated by the national development and Reform Commission, the production technology development of large caprolactam and the manufacture of complete sets of equipment belong to the category of encouragement, and the new caprolactam plant with capacity below 100 thousand tons / year belongs to the restrictive category.

For unauthorized investment projects, the government will not invest, and banks and other financial institutions will not lend.

This means that the new caprolactam needs more investment. We must raise funds through various channels and increase the proportion of private capital and foreign investment in the caprolactam industry.

Second, the project of building and expanding caprolactam raw materials.

The main raw materials for producing caprolactam are benzene, toluene and phenol, which are mainly derived from petroleum processing. Therefore, the upper part of caprolactam production plant is best equipped with refining units.

Third, the expansion of caprolactam production capacity should be given priority to the extension of the old factory base.

Rebuilding and expanding the old base of the old factory can give full play to the role of the original technical force, and make use of the existing public works and storage and pportation conditions to save investment, easy to achieve economic scale, reduce production costs and enhance competitiveness.

Fourth, technology import and innovation should be carried out simultaneously.

In the course of construction, it is necessary to introduce advanced technology. Only by adopting independent technology development and introducing two legs on the technology can we quickly break the passive situation that caprolactam relies heavily on imports so as to break the bottleneck of nylon development and make the nylon industry sustainable development.

According to Deng Jun, some private capital has begun to enter the field of caprolactam production. Zhejiang Hengyi chemical fiber company invested about 2000000000, and Sinopec, in cooperation with the purchase of its technology, is building caprolactam production line.

According to Xu Jinlong, general manager of Zhejiang Hengyi Group R & D center, the company intends to build 2 production lines. It is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2012, and it can produce 200 thousand tons of caprolactam annually.

In addition, the author also understands that China Chemical Fiber Association is currently in contact with Honey Well Company, the world's third largest caprolactam producer, and hopes to introduce advanced technology and capital from the company to invest and set up factories in China to increase caprolactam production and effectively meet domestic demand.
