French Shoes And Clothing Sales Fell 4.1% In January

According to the economic analysis of French fashion Research Institute, French textile and apparel sales fell 4.1% in January this year. There are two reasons. First, the start of this year's reduction is compared with last year's shift from January 6th to 12, and missed a week. Therefore, the basis of comparison is different. Accurate statistics need to wait for the cumulative data of the first two months of this year.

But from the monthly statistical point of view, sales performance is not optimistic, in fact, sales in January 2010 and 09 years down 5.9%.

The second is the rise in prices, resulting in tightening expenditure budgets for families in all aspects, such as energy, pportation and textiles and clothing.

In addition, the rise in clothing prices also worries the industry, which will slow down consumption.

According to the report, the sales of large shopping malls increased by 3.4% in January, at least because of the patronage of foreign tourists. However, the sales of popular stores dropped to 8.4%, the sales of specialty stores and super supermarkets dropped by 6.8%, and the number of wholesale outlets dropped by 2.4%.

In terms of products, the sales of household cloth products increased by 2.9%, and the total textile products increased by 2%. The sales of women's outfits, especially women's suits, dropped by 0.8%, the number of women's underwear and footwear decreased by 1.9%, women's small items dropped by 5%, men's small items dropped by 6%, men's underwear and footwear decreased by 11.1%, and children's wear decreased by 4.9%.
