Teachers From Beijing Institute Of Fashion Technology Assisted In The "Intangible Cultural Heritage Revitalization Public Welfare Plan" Series Activities Of 2025 China International University Fashion Week

Recently, the 2025 China International College Students Fashion Week with the theme of "Create a New World Together" opened in Beijing. During this period, the China Women's Development Foundation and the China Fashion Designers Association jointly held a series of activities of "Dating Genius Mothers · Public Welfare Fashion Show" with China Women's College, Beijing Institute of Fashion, Tsinghua University School of Fine Arts, and Beijing Film Academy. The design works of Sun Xin and Xiong Yun, young teachers from the School of Fashion Arts and Engineering of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, appeared in a series of activities; Liang Yan, a teacher, was invited to give a speech at the theme forum "Activation of Intangible Cultural Heritage: How Traditional Crafts Become the" New Language "of Young Designers".

The series of activities of "Dating Genius Mother · Public Welfare Fashion Show" aims to help integrate the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage skills with the needs of modern society and support women to participate in the innovation and development of traditional culture by building a public welfare platform for intangible cultural heritage women. In the activity, the teachers Sun Xin and Xiong Yun injected new vitality into the ancient intangible cultural heritage of "sticky paste dyeing" in Guizhou with their unique design perspective and innovative thinking.

As a traditional Miao skill, Guizhou "sticky paste dyeing" uses the local unique maple resin and sticky paste as the anti dye, draws exquisite patterns on the homespun, and forms blue and white patterns with national characteristics through dyeing, removing paste and other processes. In the creation, the two teachers skillfully applied the "sticky paste dyeing" technique to modern functional fabrics, recycled fabrics and technological fabrics. Through the improvement and innovation of the "sticky paste dyeing" pattern, as well as the adjustment of the sticky paste formula and painting process according to the characteristics of different fabrics, the presentation effect and durability of the pattern on the fabric are ensured, so that the traditional "sticky paste dyeing" pattern radiates a new sense of fashion.

The theme forum "Activation of Intangible Cultural Heritage: How Traditional Crafts Become the" New Language "of Young Designers" aims to build a cross-border dialogue platform between colleges, designers and inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, and explore the innovative transformation path of intangible cultural heritage in clothing. The forum was sponsored by China Fashion Designers Association, undertaken by Fashion Designers Magazine, supported by the public welfare project of "Genius Mother", and Guo Ruiliang, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Fashion Arts and Engineering of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, attended the meeting.

Liang Yan, a teacher, was invited to deliver a keynote speech entitled "Gene Translation of Intangible Cultural Heritage and Fashion Design Narration", and shared several innovative projects of intangible cultural heritage. First, the intangible cultural heritage carried by the Grand Canal was fully presented by taking design as the narrative carrier and combining the regional cultural characteristics of Tongzhou. The second is to take the design series of "Jiuye Collection" as an example to discuss the young and living presentation of folk intangible heritage. The third is to introduce the process of young teachers' industrialization of design works in the cooperation project of gifted mothers.

In 2024, the China Women's Development Foundation and the China Fashion Designers Association jointly launched the "Dating Genius Mothers · Intangible Cultural Heritage Revitalization Public Welfare Plan". As one of the first 15 art colleges, the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology joined the plan, and went deep into Guizhou, Yunnan, Qinghai and other places to tap the connotation of intangible cultural heritage and enable design innovation.
