Barrier

From the Guangdong inspection and Quarantine Bureau, the EU Directive on the restriction of the use of PFOS (perfluorooctane sulfonyl compounds) will be formally implemented today.

Guangdong textile, leather, packaging, cosmetics and other industries exports worse.

What is "green barrier" for PFOS?

The PFOS directive is a broader "green barrier" set by the European Union.

It is stipulated that the content of PFOS in the finished products of the EU market should not exceed 0.005% of the quality. If it is equal to or exceed 0.005%, it will not be sold; if the product is equal to or more than 0.1%, its finished products, semi-finished products and parts will also be included in the scope of sale.

It is understood that the production of textiles, leather products, furniture, and people's regular contact with paper food packaging materials and so on nearly 1000 products contain PFOS.

PFOS is also one of the most difficult organic pollutants that can be degraded at present. It can be absorbed through breathing and eating organisms. It will not only cause respiratory problems, but also lead to the death of new born babies.

With the increase in export costs and the exacerbation of the ban, the use and market placement of PFOS products will be restricted.

It is understood that directly affected by the PFOS directive is textiles, leather, paper, packaging, printing and dyeing auxiliaries, cosmetics and other manufacturing areas, especially in the textile industry has the widest range.

According to industry analysis, China has not yet developed a textile auxiliaries capable of full PFOS control standards. To meet the PFOS ban standard requirements, textile manufacturers must use environment-friendly textile auxiliaries.

The cost of production and inspection will inevitably increase, which will add to the difficulties of textile manufacturers who are facing unfavorable factors such as the appreciation of the renminbi and the adjustment of export tax rebates.

Recommendation: to speed up R & D supplies of environmentally-friendly additives, it is understood that the AQSIQ issued a notice at the beginning of last year, requiring enterprises to pay close attention to this ban. However, most export enterprises knew little about PFOS directive, and many enterprises did not even know that their products contained PFOS components.

Guangdong inspection and Quarantine Bureau recommends that powerful textile enterprises can speed up the upgrading and pformation of PFOS replacement products and production technology, and improve the environmental protection requirements of products so as to cope with the impact of PFOS on the development of enterprises.

At the same time, we should communicate with European importers as soon as possible and intensify the selection, testing and application of alternative products, so as to reduce the losses caused by the implementation of instructions.
